Ready to take ownership of a busy transport operation where no two days are the same? This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected business working behind the scenes of some of the UK's most prestigious music and live events. You will play a central role in making sure specialist equipment reaches the right venue, at the right time, every time.
The opportunity
Our client is a privately owned, ambitious organisation that designs, builds, transports and supports specialist equipment used at major venues, concerts and productions nationwide. Their reputation is built on premium service, attention to detail and dependable delivery.
As the business continues to grow, they are creating a brand-new Transport Manager position. This is an opportunity to shape the transport function, lead a small driving team and build efficient processes that directly support operational success and future growth.
What you will be doing
This is a hands-on, mainly site-based role combining transport planning, logistics coordination and team oversight. Working closely with the engineering team, you will manage the movement of specialist equipment to events, venues and client locations across the UK.
You will oversee a team of three drivers and occasionally step in to drive the company's 3.5-tonne vehicle when a team member is unavailable. Over time, the role is expected to develop into a broader strategic transport management position, with responsibility for additional vehicles and drivers.
Transport planning and team coordination
- Plan and coordinate nationwide equipment deliveries and collections.
- Oversee three drivers and manage schedules to maximise vehicle utilisation and efficiency.
- Work closely with engineers to understand project requirements, priorities and deadlines.
- Monitor routes, travel plans and delivery timings, responding quickly to last-minute changes.
- Maintain accurate delivery schedules, transport records and supporting documentation.
Driving and vehicle support
- Provide occasional driving cover in the company's 3.5-tonne vehicle when a driver is unavailable.
- Help load, unload and secure specialist equipment safely.
- Complete vehicle inspections and help ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and professionally presented.
Communication and service
- Liaise professionally with event managers, venues and customers regarding delivery schedules.
- Coordinate transport requirements by phone and email.
- Support operational planning and identify opportunities to improve the transport function.
Who we are looking for
You will be organised, dependable and confident taking ownership. You will enjoy solving problems, coordinating competing priorities and keeping people informed in a fast-moving environment.
Essential experience and qualities
- Previous experience in transport coordination, logistics, fleet management or transport planning.
- Experience coordinating or overseeing drivers and vehicle schedules.
- A full UK driving licence and experience driving larger commercial or delivery vehicles.
- Excellent organisational, scheduling and administrative skills, with good IT capability.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
- A calm, practical and solution-focused approach under pressure.
- A proactive, customer-focused attitude and willingness to take ownership.
- Physical capability to assist with lifting and moving equipment when required.
Desirable
- Knowledge of transport compliance and vehicle regulations.
Working pattern and flexibility
Core hours are 10.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. Because live events do not always operate to standard office hours, flexibility is essential when operational issues arise. The role may occasionally involve evening, night or weekend working, with overtime paid at the standard rate.
What is on offer
- £35,000 - £40,000 salary, plus standard-rate overtime.
- Company laptop and mobile phone.
- Pension scheme.
- Gym membership.
- Mental health and wellbeing support.
- The opportunity to shape a newly created role and influence how the transport function develops.
- Long-term progression into broader fleet and team management.
- The chance to support high-profile music and live events across the UK.
Additional requirement
Applicants must be aged 25 or over due to vehicle insurance requirements.
If you are an experienced transport professional who enjoys combining planning, people coordination and practical problem-solving, we would be delighted to hear from you.
