Interim Assistant Company Secretary / Deputy Company Secretary

Contract: Temporary / Interim Assignment
Location: NW9 5EW/ Hybrid working
Duration: Ongoing Assignment
Salary/Rate: £28 - £30 per hour

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Assistant Company Secretary to join our organisation on an interim basis. Given the importance of this role, we are particularly interested in candidates operating at Deputy Company Secretary level who hold a relevant professional qualification and can quickly step into a senior governance position.

This is a critical appointment that requires an individual who can hit the ground running from day one. It is not a development opportunity or a role suitable for someone looking to gain exposure to company secretarial responsibilities. We need a seasoned professional who brings proven expertise, sound judgement, and the confidence to work independently within a complex organisational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert company secretarial and corporate governance support.
  • Lead the planning, preparation and delivery of Board and Committee meetings.
  • Prepare high-quality Board and Committee papers, agendas and minutes.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and governance requirements.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on governance best practice and corporate compliance matters.
  • Maintain statutory registers and oversee required filings and reporting obligations.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of governance frameworks and processes.
  • Build strong and credible relationships with Board members, executives and senior leaders across the organisation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a qualified Company Secretary (CGIUKI/ICSA or equivalent).
  • Have significant experience operating at Assistant Company Secretary or Deputy Company Secretary level.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of corporate governance, company law and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate experience supporting Boards and Committees within a complex organisation.
  • Be able to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and manage competing deadlines.
  • Have excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Be confident providing trusted advice to senior leadership teams and Board members.
