Tate is proud to be working in partnership with the University of Southampton to recruit a Marketing Manager to join their Global Recruitment, Admissions and Marketing (GRAM) team.
This is a 4‑month contract role, paying between £20.07 per hour and £24.52 per hour, depending on experience.
This is a standout opportunity for a strategic, brand‑led marketer who thrives on integrated campaigns, data‑driven insight and delivering impact at scale. You'll play a pivotal role in positioning the University in an increasingly competitive global market, helping to engage and convert future students across the UK and overseas.
The Opportunity
As Marketing Manager, you'll lead the development and delivery of strategically integrated marketing campaigns that support student recruitment targets across Home, International and progression markets. Working closely with media and creative agencies, faculty marketing teams and international colleagues, you'll ensure Southampton's proposition is compelling, consistent and effectively targeted.
This role goes well beyond delivery - it requires someone with the confidence and experience to shape campaign strategy, interpret insight, and continuously improve performance to strengthen brand presence and market position.
Key Responsibilities of the Marketing Manager
- Lead the strategy, planning and execution of multi‑channel recruitment campaigns, aligned to institutional priorities and student number plans
- Own campaign development from insight and proposition through to delivery and optimisation, working closely with external creative and media agencies
- Develop a deep understanding of audience behaviours and decision‑making journeys, tailoring messaging across awareness, consideration and conversion stages
- Ensure campaigns are delivered on time, on budget and to performance expectations, adapting activity in response to data and market conditions
- Analyse market intelligence and performance data, producing clear insight and recommendations to enhance future campaign effectiveness
- Manage and support marketing colleagues, while working collaboratively with Faculty Marketing Managers and international marketing teams
- Contribute to wider recruitment and engagement activity, including open days, events, confirmation and clearing
About You
You will be a confident, experienced marketing professional with a strong background in brand and campaign‑led marketing within a strategic, integrated framework.
You'll bring:
- Proven experience of planning and delivering large‑scale, multi‑channel marketing campaigns
- Strong understanding of brand positioning, proposition development and audience‑led marketing
- Experience working with insight, data and performance metrics to inform decision‑making
- Confidence managing external agencies and influencing senior stakeholders
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery in a busy environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across complex organisations
Experience of global or international marketing is highly desirable, but not essential. What matters most is your ability to think strategically, lead campaigns end‑to‑end, and deliver measurable impact.
Why Join?
- Be part of a top global university brand with an international reputation for excellence
- Influence recruitment marketing at scale, with genuine opportunity to shape strategy
- Work in a collaborative, values‑driven environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement
- Hybrid working options and a strong commitment to professional development
