3. Test your technology

Before your interview, make sure your internet connection, cameria and microphone are working properly. You can check your internet speed through free services such as Speedtest or Nperf. If you are using WIFI, you can maximise your internet speed by moving as close as possible to the internet router. Better still, use a wire to connect to the router directly.

Don't forget to close any programs running in the background and ask family members and housemates to come off the internet during your interview.

4. Prepare your materials

Have a copy of your CV, the job description, and any other relevant documents handy. This will help you reference specific points during the interview.

5. Listen carefully

Pay close attention to the interviewer's questions and comments. Take a moment to think before you respond, and make sure your answers are concise and relevant.

5. Follow up

After the interview, send a thank-you email to the interviewer. Express your appreciation for the opportunity and reiterate your interest in the position.

7. Prepare for common questions

Research common interview questions and practice your answers. This will help you feel more confident and prepared during the interview.

8. Be mindful of your tone

Speak clearly and at a moderate pace. Avoid speaking too quickly or too slowly. Your tone should be friendly and enthusiastic.

9. Practice good body language

With the camera showing you from the waist up your hands will undoubtedly be on show. Avoid making lots of hand gestures, even with a great internet connection, there can be lag time, and hand gestures may stutter on screen.

Sit up straight, make eye contact, and smile. Good body language can help convey confidence and professionalism.

10. Stay positive

Maintain a positive attitude throughout the interview. Even if you encounter technical issues or unexpected questions, stay calm and composed.
