We are seeking a Retail Assistant to join our team, working in a unique and historic retail environment. This is a part-time role, primarily working one day per week (Saturday), with additional hours available as required.
Key Responsibilities
Support the achievement of sales, profit, and shrinkage targets
Deliver consistently high standards of customer service, including during busy periods
Engage customers proactively to maximise sales through cross-selling and up-selling
Accurately process transactions, refunds, and exchanges
Pick, pack, and dispatch online orders within agreed service levels
Maintain strong product knowledge and stay up to date with new items
Ensure the shop is well-stocked, clean, and visually merchandised to a high standard
Assist with stock takes and report any discrepancies or damages
Follow all cash handling and security procedures
Safely move and handle stock in line with manual handling guidelines
Skills & Experience
Excellent customer service skills
Strong verbal communication in English
Professional personal presentation
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Flexible and adaptable approach
Confidence in engaging visitors to support retail and tour sales
Quick learner with the ability to absorb product knowledge
Physically capable of lifting and moving stock
£4,800 gross per annum (based on 1 day per week; £24,000 full-time equivalent)
