My client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Accountant to join their growing finance team based just outside of Hitchin. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in transactional finance who is eager to develop professionally and work towards a recognised accounting qualification.

About the Role

As a Trainee Accountant, you'll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting functions while working closely with experienced professionals. You'll be supported every step of the way as you progress toward a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA (fully funded by my client for the successful candidate).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support month-end processes including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Manage credit control and customer payment allocations
  • Maintain the fixed assets register
  • Handle petty cash and banking duties
  • Process sales orders and customer returns
  • Complete ONS surveys
  • Provide cover for accounts payable
  • Support system go-live (IFS Cloud)
  • Carry out ad-hoc finance tasks as needed

What We're Looking For

  • AAT Level 2 to Level 3 qualification (or currently studying)
  • A strong desire to pursue ACCA or CIMA
  • A solid understanding and poven track record in transactional accounting
  • A proactive, honest, and accountable approach to work
  • Confidence to ask for help and collaborate with others
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A flexible, open-minded attitude and eagerness to learn
  • A full driving licence is a must
