Equality, Diversity & Inclusion ManagerHybrid working£21.56 per hour (£44k Salary equivalent)Office located at Barts House, Brighton6 month contract - Scope to go PermTate Recruitment are currently working with one of the largest employers within the Public sector in Sussex who employ around 10,000 staff and deliver more than 700 services to local residents to recruit a self-motivated, dynamic, collaborative EDI Manager to lead a newly formed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion team.Purpose of the JobAs the manager of the EDI team, you will be responsible for leading a high-quality team of EDI officers providing advice, guidance and support to company services to be exemplar in their accessibility and service delivery to all residents in the city.
You will develop and implement our Equality & Inclusion strategy to enable us to be a best practice civic leader in equality, diversity and inclusion, and reducing inequality. This will include leading on multi-agency strategic projects under the guidance of the organisations Tourism, Equality, Communities and Culture Committee and the city's Equality and Inclusion Partnership. Principal Accountabilities· Recommend and lead on the delivery of projects and programmes of work required to ensure it complies with EDI legislation and its statutory responsibilities are upheld.· To be the operational head of profession in the communities, equality and third sector service with a strong understanding of the relevant legislation, national best practice and local application of polices, practices and procedures relating to EDI· Provide oversight and leadership on engagement and consultation with communities who share a protected characteristic to ensure that inequality is understood and addressed across the council · Accountable for councils performace on EDI; provision of reports and recommendations to senior management and members on continual improvement and priorities for change· Review and approve all Equality Impact Assessment for services to ensure we meet the Public Sector Equality Duty under the 2010 Equality Act· Deputise for the Head of Service in settings internal and external to the organisation and represent them in local, regional and national fora· Manage the equality's budget in line with council finical regulations
