Tate are working with a large family, who are looking for a cheerful housekeeper to work for them in their weekend/holiday house on the Somerset/Devon border. It is a flexible 3-4 day equivalent job, although during school term time this would be a shorter week, and during the school holidays it would be a longer week. Our clients have 5 children of whom the eldest 3 are at university.

The busy times will be when we are here which is during the school holidays and half-terms, and then also about every 2nd or 3rd weekend during the term-time. The job involves:

  • General cleaning, tidying and laundry
  • Preparing/freezing/potting vegetables and fruit that come in from the garden.
  • Shopping and cooking for family and some dinner parties as and when required.
  • Feeding hens and ducks

We would like to find someone who takes pride in what they do, is a self-starter and is happy to live in a very rural community. The local area has lots of community activities and is very friendly. Both of our clients previous long-term housekeepers have found it quite easy to get to know people in the area.

Accommodation is provided onsite (separate 3-bedroom thatched cottage), with all services paid other than phone. There may be some part-time gardening/handyman work available for a partner. We also employ a full-time gardener, and a part-time gardener. It is essential to have a full, clean driving licence, as our house is 7 miles from the nearest town. Our employees are enrolled with Smart Pension, but can opt out at will.

The start date would ideally be End of February 2020. References are essential.
