Air & Ocean Modal Manager

You will be responsible for the management of regional central operations for Air & Ocean team

Reporting to Control Tower Manager Europe

Key skills

  • Strong international Air & Ocean background across key markets within leading Air Freight Forwarder / Shipping line or 3PL (FCL & LCL EU import/export and cross trade) ideally within a control tower environment
  • Experience of core Air & Ocean freight trade - lanes and markets (Americas/APAC/Europe)
  • Previous team & people management experience
  • Budget management and cost control experience
  • Team training, coaching/development & recruitment
  • Relevant European language fluency an advantage
  • Sounds knowledge of Air & Marine Transport regulations
  • Good inter-personal skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical and logical thinking
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Demonstrated strong and effective organizational skills
  • Previous automotive logistics experience a benefit

Responsibilities

  • Operational management of Multi customer CT Air & Ocean team.
  • Ensuring transport activities are managed in accordance with internal and customer service requirements
  • Management of operational margins for modal transport
  • Maximisation of container fill for consolidations
  • Outsourced cross dock performance
  • On-time delivery of cargo in line with customer service requirements
  • Pricing for new business proposals within remit
  • Re-enforce and maintain a culture to deliver continuous improvement to improve customer service
  • Drive & support activities to reduce transport cost and improve margins
  • Collaborate to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives as required
  • In accordance with the quality system, direct investigations to address service concerns
  • Plan, organise and manage the team to ensure that work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organisational requirements
  • Team training, development & recruitment
  • Management of problem solving and corrective actions as appropriate
  • Customer service ownership existing customer base
  • Ensure teams are working within company standards, putting in place necessary corrective actions to address deviations
  • Formulate cost saving initiatives from freight and consolidation activity, based on supplier/customer agreement
  • Ensure that financial management costing, invoicing and reporting for freight is carried out in accordance with company standards
  • Sound knowledge of customs procedures and regimes
  • Participation in supplier service management processes
  • Knowledge of IMDG , DGR & ADR
  • Monthly reporting and KPI's to management team.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday - 09:00 - 17:30
