** IT Support Technician - 2nd Line Support **

IMMEDIATE START AND INTERVIEWS - 6 MONTHS CONTRACT

£30K

Based near Godalming, Surrey

The key elements of the IT Support Technician Function are to operate in an authoritative support role, responsible for the providing internal IT support for server and client systems, software, network and telecoms infrastructure.

Duties will include:

  • Maintain an internal IT 'helpdesk' operation to meet the operational needs of the business
  • Monitor and maintain reliable data back-up systems and procedures
  • Carry out root cause analysis and administration of enterprise software
  • Ensure that appropriate measures are established and maintained to safeguard the security of the Company's IT infrastructure, systems, processes, databases and information contained therein, whether on or off-site
  • Assist with IT archiving, network filing and data-sharing activities
  • Provide ad-hoc IT training of various types to users, as required
  • Provide IT assistance and support for the Bill of Materials function for various automotive projects through building, developing and maintaining an appropriate operating framework
  • Provide IT assistance with the generation and upkeep of corporate presentation material, animations, films, and other such material
  • Ensure that all server rooms and similarly dedicated areas are kept in a clean, tidy and fully operational condition at all times, thereby sustaining a suitable operating environment for IT infrastructure
  • Assist with the infrastructure and systems configuration and ensure all systems follow an appropriate change control process
  • Audio-visual equipment and video conferencing equipment - Assist with set-up, operation, maintenance and functionality - under the general guidance of the Visualisation Department
  • Ensure effective supervision of any sub-contractor activity
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within the IT functional areas of the business
  • To perform any other duties that may be reasonably asked of you
  • To develop, promote and adhere to best practices and to agreed systems and procedures across all areas of work

Requirements:

To be considered for the role you will need to have previously worked at a 2nd line IT support level, ideally as a Desktop Support, IT Support Analyst or IT Support Engineer and have a range of skills:

  • Microsoft Office 2013, 2016+
  • Windows 7/10/2012R2+
  • MS Exchange 2013+
  • Active Directory
  • Networking (subnetting, L3 routing)
  • Exposure to virtualisation (preferably Hyper-V)
  • Understanding of failover host clustering
  • Understanding of DR and backup technologies and methodologies
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skill
