Head of Demand Planning

Our client a leading international business who is one of the worlds manufacturer of their sector and who holds significant global market positions is currently looking to recruit a Head of Demand Planning to join their team. This is an influential and high profile role which will involve working with senior executives to fully understand and articulate the demand or sales side assumption for the business planning process. The role has responsibility for management of all demand forecasts across the division.

Role: Head of Demand Planning Location: UK with regular travel to other countriesSalary: c£60-65,000pa

Responsibilities will include:

- Lead the Demand Planning process to develop and maintain the short, medium and long-term demand plans division wide for the business.- Develop a strong relationship between key internal stakeholder groups including, Supply Chain, Commercial and Finance teams - enabling improved forecast accuracy (base and activity plan) alongside overarching operational improvements through increased focus on forecast patterns and trends.- Utilise analytical and system skills to maintain information integrity and accuracy within the forecasting system and related tools.- Manage the development and ongoing management of the forecast through direct partnering with commercial colleagues taking into account both micro and macro factors.- Deliver a high-quality rolling 24-month value and volume forecast through the monthly IBP process - maintaining and improving performance of key metrics such as forecast accuracy, forecast bias and customer service.- Manage both the internal and external stakeholders from a Commercial and Supply Chain perspective - working closely with both to ensure that the forecast contains the highest level of quality.- Define the KPIs the Demand Planning function will deliver in order to act as an enabler to continuous operational excellence. It is anticipated the main KPIs are forecast accuracy, forecast bias and customer service. The main accountabilities include:

- Build, develop and maintain the Integrated Planning Process (IBP).- Transition IBP through design and stabilise phases leading to a world class monthly process that drives significant benefits to the business.- Provide process and system capability for managing the execution/demand control zone.- Lead team to monitor forecast consumption and manage forecast roll.- Develop, coach and mentor Demand Planners and Demand Controllers leading to a high-performance Demand Planning function capable of driving the business forward and fully embedding the IBP process.- Maintaining and developing a stable, robust and up to date forecast in the system and supporting the demand creation aspects within demand planning.- Delivering an effective and accurate rolling 24 month forecast. This information will provide the information for supply and capacity planning, driving material ordering and finished product stock purchasing.- Improving forecast accuracy through the IBP process - utilising sales trend analysis, in conjunction with commercial and finance colleagues with a clear understanding of the impact of commercial and marketing activity upon the plan.- Developing the opportunities and vulnerabilities to support and challenge commercial colleagues sales forecast that will highlight potential downsides, upsides and cannibalisation effects on the forecast.- Take a leading role in the execution of performance and system improvement projects.- Rigorous interrogation of sales and demand data. Building relationships with account managers and sales directors to improve forecast accuracy, leading to better forward demand plans - including the preparation, and execution of regular forecasting meetings with colleagues and customers.- Provide the business with an effective Demand Planning service for IBP and subsequent strategic decision-making purposes, over various time phases.- Taking a leading role in the ongoing development and increase in the functional knowledge of the Demand Planning team.- Creating and presenting insightful presentations to both internal and external stakeholders that distil complex data sets into meaningful, tangible insights allowing for concise decision making to occur.You will need: - A degree in a relevant discipline (Business, Supply Chain, Finance or equivalent). - Three to five years demand planning at global or regional level ideally within a high volume manufacturing environment.- Strong systems expertise (SAP or similar) with experience in MRP and ERP programs.- Strong understanding of supply chain methodologies.- A good communicator who can easily convey his/her ideas and requirements across all levels in the organisation.Desirable Criteria:- Applicants who are CPIM (Certified in Production & Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) will be at a distinct advantage- Knowledge of predictive modelling a distinct advantage- Experience/involvement in ERP systems implementationKey Competencies:

- Analytical - the ability to manage large amounts of information, identify root causes and put in place resolution activities.
