Experienced Underwriter Derby (DE21)£20,000 - £25,000 (depending on experience) Permanent, 40 hours per week Hours of work: You will work 3 shift patterns (08:00am - 17:00pm), (09:00am - 18:00pm) and (10:00am - 19:00pm). One Saturday in three is also required, with a day off in lieu. Our client is looking to recruit an experienced and high-motivated Underwriter to join their expanding business. You will be working closely with the busy credit lending team. Your main role would be to assess and decide on credit applications; maximise business opportunities, whilst helping the company build and develop a new business sector that they are venturing into. Your duties will include, but not limited to:- - Utilising affordability and security credit bureau tools and products - Identify agreements which are potentially fraudulent or require a level of further investigation - Liaising with customers regarding their applications and/or obtaining further information - Identify and agree credit loans that will maximise revenue and reduce exposure to potential risk, within agreed mandates/criteria - Dealing with customer account queries, e.g. amending direct debit dates- Handling inbound and outbound customer & telephone calls and dealing with queries - Updating the system and following processes as per department policy and procedures- Replying to customer emails and website enquiries - Filing, scanning and archiving customer agreement documentation - Verifying and checking pay out documentation provided prior to the release of funds- Supporting the Collections team with outbound calling where required- Providing their intermediaries and customers an excellent level of service and reliability - Completing verification calls with customers to establish their understanding of the product sold by the Leisure Parks prior to pay outExperience & Qualifications:- - 2 years experience in financial services or a relevant credit environment - Minimum grade C (GCSE or equivalent) in Maths and English, with basic computer literacy - use of Microsoft office.- Flexible where required to ensure business targets are achieved- A good understanding of credit bureaus, searches and scores- Knowledge of finance fundamentals and ideally within the consumer product range e.g. Personal Loans, Fixed Term Loans or Hire Purchase- Analytical with excellent attention to detail- Self-motivated and focused on personal performance and delivering results- Team player who can easily form effective working relationships- A good understanding of the relevant consumer credit acts and the consumer finance regulatory environment- Strong communicator with good customer service skills
