Excellent opportunity for a proven HR professional (CIPD qualified) to join a highly successful organisation approximately 15 miles from Exeter. Working in partnership to provide a high quality, professional HR service to support and advise on international projects. Provide timely HR operational support and expertise to the senior management team. to country managers, the executive team and boards of Directors.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the Head of HR and HR colleagues to provide professional and knowledgeable HR advice and support the senior managers, country managers and Executive team and act in an advisory capacity whilst developing HR solutions to support the International Strategy.
Develop HR frameworks to comply with in-country legislation and employment practice; using effective HR models adapt to the needs of the ID projects;
Work with Head of HR on a variety of HR projects, finding effective solutions to develop and improve the HR service across the whole charity;
Provide advice and guidance to Senior Managers and Country Managers on a number of HR functions including recruitment, absence, OH referrals, maternity, performance, grievance, capability and discipline; equality & diversity; health & safety; induction; training and learning in line with best practice and country specific legislation;
Provide training to develop HR skills and knowledge within the International Programme, including, when appropriate, direct coaching and support;
Support the L&D programmes to develop leadership and managerial skills in the team;
Research and compile comparative salary and benefit data for all countries and advise on appropriate job evaluation and grading frameworks, including highlighting locally specific practices or regulations for consideration;
Using existing H&S best practice, work with management team to develop initiatives and undertake training to support the management of agreed standards;
Be part of the team to develop a care and rapid response procedure to respond to any accidents or emergencies involving staff, or others under our care in our International team;
Keep up to date with international employment law and advise when changes to policy or practices are necessary;
Build networks and collaborative working relationships with partners (both internal and external) and other charities and organisations to share and learn best practice in HR operational areas;
Work with internal and external HR colleagues to maintain good communication links sharing best practice across the HR service;
Act as an effective ambassador, communicating positively and professionally with all customers and developing positive working relations in all areas;
Carry out any other reasonable duty as may be required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
CIPD qualified (minimum Level 5) or equivalent on the job relevant HR experience;
Experience of providing a HR service to senior level management;
Able to demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge and experience of employment law and HR practices within an international context;
Able to demonstrate previous experience of developing and delivering a broad range of training;
NGO experience preferrable;
Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and demonstrates the ability to communicate complex information transparently and effectively;
Excellent organisational skills, able to anticipate own workload and changing priorities to meet deadlines;
Experience of successfully working within a budget;
Full valid driving licence.
