Adam Weir

Adam Weir

Director of London

Q: How did you get to your current position?
Hard work, sheer determination, great people around me and slight mania!
I’ve worked with David Clubb for 12 years & 3 years ago he asked me to join him at Tate to head up the City division and implement a vigorous growth plan. ?  I now head up all of London Tate operations and run offices from Liverpool Street and Mayfair.

Q: What qualities do you look for in your team and why?
PACE  – the speed at which someone walks determines how successful they will be in recruitment! People who want to succeed, a winning mentality, resilience and really likeable people. We are in a people  business and ultimately people buy from people.

Q: What has been the biggest challenge in your career to date and why?
When the recession hit. Having built a successful business in the City the recession hit us almost overnight and instantaneously then having to adapt and learn a completely different market.  We had to almost rip up the text book and learn to do business differently in order to keep our clients and candidates happy during such difficulties.  And whilst it was really challenging this time happened to be one of our most successful few years and we came out even stronger.

Q: What advice would you give to a younger 'you' starting out in your career?
Breathe! Take it just as seriously, work just as hard but have more fun and celebrate more

Q: What motivates you and why? What gets you up in the morning?
Success motivates me and making things happen.  In my career I have always grown operations from scratch to something record breaking and this is what I do & this is why I go to work.

Q: What is your most memorable career moment?
This year my operations won 7 Awards at our annual event.  Team of The Year 1st & 2nd, Manager of The Year 1st & 2nd, Temps Consultant of The Year, Perms Consultant 2nd & The Values Award.  It was a very emotional evening and I’ve never been so proud of my hardworking, amazing and committed team.

Q: What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy cooking, no one is allowed in the kitchen when I’m there, it’s my time.  I go to the gym 4 times a week and this year I’m training to run The London Marathon for The Anthony Nolan trust.

Q: What is your favourite film?

Shawshank Redemption

Q: Best book you've read?
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.
