Interview Techniques are Wizard at Tate

8/8/2008

Tate, the UK’s leading recruitment specialist in the permanent and temporary PA and secretarial sectors, has come up with a unique new initiative to offer its clients even more value from the service it provides.

It is already the only recruitment consultancy in the UK to offer its customers a ‘Watertight Guarantee’, a unique non-payment pledge, if it doesn’t deliver on its promises. And, in an effort to further live up to its ‘distinctively different’ strap line, the company has introduced a series of breakfast seminars for its existing and prospective clients.

To deliver the seminars Tate has teamed up with The Wizards Network, a collective of out-of-the-ordinary creative business consultants, with skills ranging from a Neolithic Archaeologist to a Buddhist Monk and a Quantum Physicist.

The first breakfast seminar, which was held on the 24 June 2008 at Savoy Place, was on the subject of Advanced Interviewing Techniques and was presented by John Wilson, an ex-Met Police Detective Inspector, who specialises in this area and runs training programmes for major law enforcement agencies around the world including Interpol and the MOD.

During the two-hour session delegates were introduced to techniques that they could immediately take back to the workplace for interviews and information gathering. They learned vital skills including how to accurately record information during an interview, how to ask questions that ensure all the right information is gathered and, perhaps most importantly of all, how to recognise when an interviewee is being less than candid.

Julia Robertson, Managing Director of Tate, said: “At Tate we are continually looking for ways to add value to the service we offer to our clients. The breakfast seminars offer people the opportunity to benefit from the experience and knowledge of a group of outstanding individuals who are leaders in the field and following on from the success of the first event we will be adding further dates to this exciting programme.”

The next breakfast seminar will be held in London in October and will be on the subject of Positive Thinking in a Negative Economy delivered by Val Schuch. Further Advanced Interviewing Techniques Breakfast Seminars are now confirmed for Birmingham and the Southampton area for the 23rd and 24th of September respectively.

Mike Strong, Tate’s Business Development Manager, added: “The first event was a big success. We had some very positive feedback from clients who attended with most expressing interest in attending future seminars.

“At first glance it may seem that techniques for interviewing criminals would be totally out of place in the workplace, but it was fascinating to hear how a few relatively simple skills can make all the difference when it comes to gathering information and learning to ask the right questions.”

The Wizards Network clients include Ashridge Business School, GSK, Hilton, and Deloitte. For more information visit: www.thewizardsnetwork.com.
